Last week, I had the pleasure of experiencing New York City while attending the Blogher conference. Two months before the conference, I sought out to find the perfect hotel that was away from the hustle and bustle of the city but yet convenient with a feel of being welcomed. I found that hotel, The Roger Smith located at 501 Lexington Ave. Upon arriving at the entrance of Roger Smith, I immediately knew I had found the perfect place by it encompassing unique and amazing art work and structure.
I headed on inside and proceeded to check in and was amazed at the attention to detail and colors that created the perfect atmosphere in the lobby
The fine folks that checked me in were very laid back and dressed casually resulting in creating the perfect feel of what I was looking for in making me feel at home while in NYC. I then proceeded to my room which was a junior suite complete with 2 wrought iron beds, beautiful white loveseat and furniture that reminded me of my Grandmas antique home furnishings. In addition to the beautiful room and atmosphere I had already been greeted with, I was in awe by the personal feel I received when I came across the Roger Smith Hotel coffee cup. Yes, friends it’s the little things that make me feel special.
The experience of The Roger Smith Hotel didn’t stop there. John and Phoebe Knowles who manage and ensure the hotel is creating the most perfect moment for guests opened up their event space in the Lily’s Restaurant to host a wine tweetup for individuals attending the conference to come together, socialize and enjoy great wine from Cellar Angels and Petito Wines. Just the way you would at home.
The restaurant is not currently open for business but the bar inside Lily’s is open daily from 5 to 10pm so be sure and stop by to enjoy your favorite beverage the Roger Smith way. In addition to the Lily’s bar and event space, the hotel is ready to embrace the city’s magnificent outdoor space by welcoming you to Henry’s Rooftop Bar. Perfect for experiencing that picturesque environment and feel.
My overall experience at The Roger Smith was one I would never expect to experience in NYC. From the moment I contacted John and Phoebe to checking out, the customer service, cleanliness, attitude and feel were unlike any other to be found in and around the big apple. Thank you Roger Smith Hotel for creating the most perfect 4 days while in NYC resulting in making me feel like I never left home, important and exceeding my needs.

About 10 years ago, I was in NYC for a couple-day business trip and had the opportunity to stay at the Roger Smith. It’s definitely unique and very classy. It has a lot of character, and worth spending time there again.
